Senior Internal Auditor
2010.03.29.Our client, The Open Society Institute–Budapest (OSI), is a private operating and grantmaking foundation that aims to shape public policy to promote democratic governance, human rights, and economic, legal and social reform. OSI currently seeks a professional into a position of Senior Internal Auditor.
Key tasks:
- Planning, execution and completion of audit engagements of grantee institutions located in the countries OSI is active; writing audit reports; presentation of issues to grantee management
- Monitoring the annual external audit process for members of the Soros foundations network
- Identifying room for improvement in the internal control systems of grantee organizations and members of the Soros Foundations network
- Promoting exchange of internal control best practice throughout grantee organizations
- Liaising closely with external auditors to ensure optimal conditions for the timely completion of the annual audit processes of members of the Soros foundations network
- Liaison with network finance personnel on OSI policy related questions and management reporting, assist in the development of policies
- Completion of ad hoc projects and the answer of ad hoc queries arising at the National Foundations (NFs) and Network Programs
- Involved in the organization of financial directors conferences, presentation of professional issues and policy questions
- Training of finance staff at the National Foundations, spin off organizations and other grantees on financial and administrative procedures.
Requirements:
- University or College degree in Economics, Finance and Accounting or Business Administration
- 6-7 years of experience in auditing (preferably at one of the Big 4 and/or at the internal audit department of a multinational company)
- Thorough knowledge of audit and control procedures
- Extensive experience in the evaluation of internal control systems
- Advanced knowledge of IFRS (IAS) and ISA principles
- Strong technical and analytical skills
- Fluent oral and excellent written English,
- Excellent PC literacy
- Willingness to travel extensively
- Ability to work alone
- Knowledge of major accounting software
- Strategic, business orientated, logical and structured way of thinking
- Good interpersonal communication skills
- Cultural sensitivity, flexibility
- Orientation of charitable activities, non-profit sphere
